“I want that.”

“What?”

“I think we should get it for the loft.”

“Are you alright?”

“Of course I am.”

“It's... alive.”

“Well jeez, Sandburg, it's evergreens, not snakes or something.”

“But...”

“I thought it would look nice on the pole.”

“The pole.”

“Well it's garland, Chief, you can't just hang it on your door.”

“Garland.”

“Are you alright?”

“Jim, in all the years I've known you, you have never decorated the loft at all, and now you've suddenly gone all Martha Stewart on me – I thought we came here for caulk, not greens.”

“We are getting caulk.”

“And shrubbery.”

“Look, King Arthur, if you don't want to, fine.”

“Don't pout. And won't the smell bother you?”

“I'm not pouting, and you know that it's artificial smells that I have a hard time dealing with these days – pine is soothing.”

“Soothing.”

“Would you stop repeating everything I say?”

“I... don't know what else to say.”

“Alert the media, Sandburg is speechless.”

“Oh, shut it. I just don't understand what's going on, that's all – I think it's perfectly normal that I am surprised since you are the one that is acting out of character.”

“It's just... I...”

“I'm trying hard not to repeat you here.”

“It's our first holiday season together. I mean, together together. I wanted to, I don't know, make it... different.”

“Ah.”

“Don't make psychiatrist noises at me, Sandburg.”

“Hey, that wasn't a 'psychiatrist noise,' that was the sound of newfound understanding.”

“You are so full of it.”

“Seriously, Jim, I like it – you're right. Decorating the place is both something we can do as a couple that we didn't as roommates and a visual reminder of that new change in our relationship.”

“You might be overthinking it a bit there.”

“It was your idea, I'm just agreeing,”

“Yeah, well... does that mean you think we should do it?”

“I'll get a cart, you pick which garland looks the best.”

“And... maybe we can get a wreath, too...?”

“Sure thing, Jim.”

The end.
